Meet the Team
While developing Drink Safe Florida, one of our biggest focuses and challenges was choosing the right team to build, promote, and fund our program. We know we needed a strong team of community members around us to build a program that is effective, efficient, and can make a real difference.
One aspect that has remained very important to us is ensuring we bring together a diverse group of men and women from all walks of life to garner different perspectives. These men and women share our commitment to diversity and inclusion.
After much searching, we are fortunate to have a starting task force that represents this diversity, particularly in the areas of victim’s advocacy, law enforcement, the service industry, higher education, and LGBTQ+ organizations.
Together with our amazing team, we have developed a strong brand identity and an informative, engaging curriculum that is the cornerstone of the Drink Safe Florida Program.

“Through Drink Safe Florida, I want to help create a community where my children and their children can be themselves without fear of being taken advantage of just because of how they are dressed or what they are doing; a community where the blame for violent crime is placed as it should — on the perpetrator, not the victim.”

“It’s scary being a single person and dating — even scarier when you know the dangers of being alone and about town on the bar scene. I was in a sorority and an RA in college. I had heard all of the horror stories, sat through all the trainings, been lectured, bought the t-shirt. So in my mid-twenties when I found myself going on date after date (most of them horrible,) I discovered that where the date was going to be was the most important element. So I chose to meet at a bar that I knew would help if I needed to get out of there. Several years later, members of that same bar and this community are banding together to bring the Drink Safe Florida ideal to every bar – to educate, break stigmas, and make sure that bars are a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.”
